Step 1
Create the Splitcart and Invite Others
After the organizer has completed their shopping experience, they will see the Splitcart option at checkout. The organizer will then be prompted to send an invite via text, email, or social media to friends and family. This link will then alert others that they are “on the clock” and need to contribute to the group activity, ticket(s), or big night out.
Once the organizer has completed the checkout, contributors and invitees will begin seeing automated notifications from Splitcart. This does two things; removes the hassle of asking friends and family for money, but most importantly, the invite brings the party back to your website.
Step 2
Contributors Make Their Payments
As contributors or invitees receive the dynamic link, they will be directed to your website’s checkout flow. At your website’s checkout there is no change to the process. Same gateway and same processor. Customers will pay on your website, removing the need for someone to pay back using a third-party app or download after the fact.
It’s important to note, despite your customers being “on the clock” and not contributing immediately, you’ve already secured the payment using Splitcart’s pre-authorization features. This is applied to the organizer’s method of payment. As contributors pay, Splitcart will adjust the pre-authorization amount to the organizer’s payment.


Step 3
Monitor and Complete
Members of the group or party can watch as the Splitcart is paid in real time. Participants will recieve notifications of when they need to pay, who has already paid or those who still need to pay. Splitcart has now removed the messy payback scenarios.
All that is left is to enjoy your hassle-free night out, vacation, or that big concert.

Yes, as the merchant you control how long a Splitcart remains open for payor contributions. You can set the contribution window to meet your company’s specific needs.
What happens if some of the payors don't pay in time?
The initial purchaser is required to enter their payment method before they invite others to pay. In the event that not all payors contribute their share, the remaining difference is charged to the initial purchaser. This confirms the purchase for the customer and the funding for your business.
